How can I order replacement or add-on Hot Wheels track pieces?
We stock track pieces and connectors that are compatible with the majority of our Hot Wheels track sets and are available for purchase here. These pieces are part of a product line called TrackWorx and can also be purchased at Toys 'R Us.

Why does pricing and availability of Hot Wheels vary in different retail establishments?
As a manufacturer, Mattel cannot determine the quantity of products a particular retailer orders, nor does our organization have any input into the price for which our toys are sold. Once a retail outlet purchases the product from us, they may sell it for whatever price they choose. In addition, these same stores determine availability. They control how much product they buy from us, as well as how and when they place that product on their shelves for consumer sales.

What are Treasure Hunt cars and why are they so hard to find?

Treasure Hunt cars are Hot Wheels basic cars, produced in smaller quantities than our other basic cars, that incorporate special decorations and/or special wheels. Treasure Hunt cars are randomly packed out in our basic car assortments, so when you find one in a store you've found a real treasure!

Can I purchase Hot Wheels Treasure Hunt vehicles directly from Mattel?
Mattel does not sell Treasure Hunt cars directly to consumers. All of these vehicles are limited in quantity and subject to availability.

Why aren’t all Hot Wheels cars manufactured with the name of the car engraved on the chassis?

Space constraints sometimes prevent us from placing a model's name on its chassis. Less often, a model's name may not have been decided upon when the time for chassis engraving arrived.

Why does the name on the chassis of a Hot Wheels car sometimes differ from the name of the product itself?

Why is the date on the Hot Wheels chassis different from the year the car was produced?
The date on the Hot Wheels chassis relates to the year that the chassis was designed, not the model of the car.

Why is it that Hot Wheels posters and blister packs don’t always accurately depict the actual cars in a series?
Hot Wheels posters and some vehicle packages are printed before many of the cars have actually been manufactured. Therefore, if a specific car model is changed during the production process, that change may not be reflected in previously printed material. Some collectors may find this type of packaging to be more valuable.
