The new iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina are not compatible with the Barbie Digital Makeover app.
There is a known issue with iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina devices that is preventing the Barbie Digital Makeover App from functioning properly. We are aware of this issue and we are doing our best to resolve the situation and we will update the app as soon as a fix is available. We do not have a timeframe as to when it will be updated.
The product is compatible with iPad 2, iPad (3rd Generation), iPad (4th Generation) and iPad mini.

Yes. However, the screenshots in the instructions will look different that what you will see on your computer. You can also drag and drop mp3 and WMA files directly to your device using Windows Explorer.
During the setup process your device is connected to your new Hello Barbie™. If the Hello Barbie™ Companion App is closed while Hello Barbie™ is still connected to your device, the "Connection Error" will appear. Please take the following steps:
Close the Companion App
Go to your device's WiFi settings
Reconnect to your WiFi network, Re-open the Barbie Companion App
The error should be resolved and you can continue the setup process. In some cases, you may have to start over.
Barbie Girl™ will still work as a digital music player. But if you want to access any of the special items on BarbieGirls.com or become Best Friends with another user, you will need to register your Barbie Girl™ using the Barbie Girl™ software.
You can copy music from your CDs and transfer it to your Barbie Girl™. You can even copy photos and other files to your Barbie Girl™. You can customize your Barbie Girl™ with cool snap-on outfits and accessories, and decorate your earbuds with snap-in earrings and beads.
If this occurs during the Hello Barbie™ setup process, make sure the doll is properly charged. Hello Barbie™ should remain in the charging station and connected to power during the setup.
When putting Hello Barbie™ into connection mode, make sure you see white flashing lights (they may also look light blue) If the lights flash (royal) blue, Hello Barbie™ has been reset and will automatically say "My batteries need to recharge. Please connect me to the charging station." Connect Hello Barbie™ to the charger and continue putting her into connection mode.
If this occurs during conversations or red lights appear, connect Hello Barbie™ to her charger, make sure that the charging cable is firmly connected to the doll, and that the orange charging indicator is illuminated.
Check all the connections to make sure they’re tight. Also make sure the Barbie Girl™ USB connector is popped all the way out of the device. If it is, plug it firmly into the docking station. Then be sure to plug the USB cable firmly into a USB port on your computer.
If the device is still not recognized, plug the docking station into a different USB port. Remember…the Barbie Girl™ device software only works on a PC computer. Your Barbie Girl™ is not Mac compatible. Ask a grownup for help if you need it!
If the doll fails to respond or any other malfunction occurs, press the reset switch with a paperclip and try charging the battery.
·Reset switch is located on Barbie doll’s back next to the USB Port.
·To charge the non-replaceable lithium polymer battery, slide up the USB cover on Barbie doll’s back and place Barbie Photo Fashion doll in the doll stand.Connect the USB cable to the doll and the computer.Prior to use, charge for about 2 hours or until the “Fully Charged” icon appears on the Viewfinder.
There is one Barbie Girl™ device that comes in three different colors: pink, blue, or green. If you own a Barbie Girl™ device, you can also get fashion and accessory packs to change the look of your Barbie Girl™ and unlock special features online!
Fold the wings in half.The purple wings with details (with lines) should face the front.(Clicking noise will be heard to indicate that the wings are properly folded).
When placing wings on doll, turn the doll so that the back of the doll is facing you. Snap the bigger clasp with flower pattern on the top while the smaller clasp snaps to the bottom. (Clicking noise will indicate it is snapped on correctly).
If done correctly, the top clasp will be right next to the flower borders (see Back Wings Image).
If wings are snapped on correctly and the wings do not open, then move arms slightly forward (see “Slightly forward Arm” pictures).
A solid colored screen when opening Barbie® iDesign™ indicates an issue with the compatibility of your video card and DirectX®.Verify that your video card is compatible with DirectX® 9.0c and the driver is up to date.This can be done on your computer or video cards manufacturer’s website.
To activate your Barbie® RC Train and Ride™ Horse, Press and hold the button on its forehead until the horse takes a step. Press the button again to make the horse walk. If the horse is not played with for a few minutes, it will go into a sleep mode. Simply press and hold the button on the horse’s forehead until it takes a step to wake it up.
Hello Barbie™ may occasionally encounter issues sending and receiving conversations. The issues may be based on signal strength, roaming, or Internet congestion. Usually the issues are brief and Hello Barbie™ will resume operation quickly. This can also occur when Hello Barbie™ has been in connection mode for along time or has timed out after a long period of inactivity. Turning Hello Barbie™ off and on again will enable the doll to resume normal activity.
This may also happen if Hello Barbie™ loses its WiFi connection. Please take the following steps:
Close the Companion App
Go to your devise's WiFi settings
Reconnect to your WiFi network
In addition, you may get this message if Hello Barbie's batteries are low. If this is the case, please place Hello Barbie™ back on her charger.
Barbie Girl™ device is an MP3 player that you can customize with hot looks, fashions, charms, and more. She’s also your key to unlocking some cool stuff on BarbieGirls.com! To connect your Barbie Girl™ to your computer, go to the “Online Play” section of your instructions and follow the “Installation and Registration” directions. When referring to Barbie Girl™, we use the words “device” and “MP3 player” interchangeably.
If this occurs during the Hello Barbie™ setup process, the WiFi SSID name or the WiFi password was possibly entered incorrectly. Select the "Manage WiFi" option to add the correct SSID name and password.
If the issue occurs during conversations and/or Hello Barbie's lights are flashing yellow you may need to move the doll closer to the WiFi router/modem. Hello Barbie's lights will flash yellow if the WiFi signal is getting weaker.
Here’s how to make friends! To add someone to your friends list, click their character, then click “add to my friends”! If you can’t see their character, go to “my mail” and enter your friend’s screen name. Then click “search” to find out if she’s online. If she is, her name will show up and you can click it to add her as a friend!
Here’s how to make best friends! To add a friend to your best friends list, you both need to own a Barbie Girl™ device. Connect your friend’s Barbie Girl™ device to your computer and follow the on-screen instructions. With parent’s permission, best friends can have a Secret B Chat™ in their room and type their own chat and email messages to each other.
In order to have Secret B Chat™ with friends, you must become best friends on BarbieGirls.com. In order to become best friends, you must connect your Barbie Girl™ to each other’s computers and both receive parental approval to use that feature on the site. In the meantime, you can still have a B Chat™!
Confirm your login information is correct and try again. If you forgot your password, click “forgot password?” to retrieve it. If you have a basic account and you forgot your username, you will need to re-register. If you have a Barbie Girl™ device and you forgot your username, call the number located on the back of the instructions that came with your Barbie Girl™. If your parent has set up a Parents’ Place account, you can also check out your account details or change your password with their help.
