Intermittent or no sound can be caused by a sound card that is not detected or incompatible. Use the following steps to check your sound card.
- Plug in headphones or speakers (some sound cards require this for the computer to consider the card to be active).
- If unsuccessful, you will need to update the sound card driver.
- Click Start and select Run (Windows Vista – Click Logo and use search box instead
- Type DXDIAG and click OK.
- Click the Sound tab.
- Record the Name of the sound card.
- Contact the computer or sound card manufacturer for an update.
