As released publicly in Mattel’s 2012 Corporate Citizenship Report, Mattel is committed to advancing the use of sustainably-sourced paper and wood fiber in our packaging and products. Mattel continues to work to roll this out across our packaging, products and business. Mattel will continue to work to align wood products with the principles.

We recommend using alkaline batteries with our products, as they are great for long-term use and help optimize performance. We don't recommend using Carbon-Zinc batteries. While Carbon-Zinc batteries may work well with low-power devices, they can drain after a short period of time and cause certain products to not function properly.

We use beech and medium density fiberboard (engineered wood product) for our Thomas Wooden Railway products.

Fisher-Price takes great pride in the Wooden Railway line of products and accessories that we produce and quality is very important to us. We thought it would be helpful to let you know that we include a small amount of plastic on some of our wooden products to further ensure their improved strength.

There are a few things you can try to make Cranky, your remote and/or Flynn start working together:
- Please make sure you have EIGHT fresh, alkaline batteries in the product.
- If one battery brand is not working for you, we suggest you try another as different brands have different connectivity points.
- We have found batteries that are rechargeable do not work as well with this product.
- Please make sure you have turned on BOTH switches. 1 switch is located on the remote and 1 is on the crane itself.

Some of the engines that house the batteries in the tender car will go in circles when not on the tracks. The product is performing as intended.
